Klangrausch is a student-run event format that brings together diverse musical genres from classical music to techno, beyond conventional concert halls. I was part of the design team during my studies in Weimar.
We put a strong focus on reusable materials in designing stages and event spaces.
For a one-day festival in August 2021 on an industrial wasteland site in Weimar, we used borrowed scaffolding as a base structure for stages and combined it with reused textile and rope elements for creating an airy atmosphere. In the dark, the lengths of fabric were illuminated with coloured beams that created a fascinating play of light through their net structure.
In February 2022 we planned an indoor event at E-Werk Weimar for which we crafted reflecting waves that were hanging from the ceilings. Apart from that, elements from the DNT props room, such as plants, lamps, swimming noodles and water basins, were used for creating an "underwater" living-room atmosphere.
For an event in July 2023 on the campus of Bauhaus University, we worked with recycled lengths of fabric, which we stretched from a central point into the surrounding trees to create a tent-like structure.
