The annual building workshop at Bedheim Castle links teaching, research and practice to familiarise students with construction techniques and materials in dealing with existing buildings and monument preservation.
It was supervised by Studio Gründer Kirfel.
During the two-week block seminar, we - a group of eight Bauhaus University students - experimented with hempcrete which offers great ecological potential and at the same time has a moisture-regulating effect. We produced our own hempcrete and used it in façade constructions with the help of a tamping technique. In total we created four different façade mock-ups that each have an insulating layer of hempcrete.
